Patchwork Puppy

Yo-yo eyeball detail!

Backside of Patchwork Puppy

Hi everybody,

I made a very huge patchwork puppy. I downloaded the free pattern from Handcock Fabrics. Look under free projects. I decided to use a yo-yo eye for it. I used the extra small yo-yo maker and the medium yo-yo maker to layers. The pattern called for 4 inch squares, but I was too lazy, and I didn't have the heart to chop my charm packs up. The charm packs are five inch squares. The dog stands 31 inches tall from ear to foot and is 22 inches wide. I used two 32 oz. packages of fiber fill. It use to be called puff and stuff when I was a kid. I love that name Puff and Stuff.

Over all, I used 27 front + 27 back +30 side =84 squares total. I used two charm packs, and I had to cut the other thirty out by hand (I sound like a big complainer here). The charm packs made it pretty easy to make. Fabrics I used are Sandi Henderson's charm pack Ginger Blossom, Tula Pink's Flutterby by Moda, Vintage Reproduction Fabric from '30's and '40's. I started a fat quarter club where I get the vintage fabrics sent to me once a month. Those are turning out to be a lot of fun. The other fabric in this pillow came out of my stash. Desperately Waiting for Jumbo Yo-yo Maker to get to my house. Happy sewing. Blessings.

Oooh, I had this on a list of other ideas for Trixie somewhere. She loves puppies and this one would be pretty fast to put together. I love the yoyo eye!
